The Valais Region

Ovronnaz is in the Valais region in the southern Swiss Alps.

The Valais is the third largest Canton which has the driest climate and most sunshine of the whole country which makes it ideal for producing some of the finest wine in Europe from its 22,000 vineyards.

It is home to 47 mountains over 4,000 metres high. Twenty percent of the region is covered in glaciers including the UNESCO world nature heritage site around the Aletsch Glacier which, at 23km long, is the largest glacier in the Alps. The world famous resorts of Verbier, Saas-Fee, Crans Montana and Zermatt, with the iconic Matterhorn, are all within easy driving distance.

The capital of the Valais is Sion which is only a 20 minutes drive from Ovronnaz. The Town is steeped in history and has two castles, the Valere and Tourbillion, which are perched on two rocky hills overlooking the town.

Less than an hours drive is Lake Geneva and the beautiful towns of Montreux and Vevey.
